Austria: Austrians' lust for shopping unchanged
Article Abstract:
Though smaller and medium sized businesses may have some problems, larger businesses are doing well in Austria. Unlike in Germany and the US, Austrian consumers do not seem to have been put off by world events, according to the institute for further education (Institut fur Hohere Studien). . . In Germany, Shulz of the Green Party is amongst those hoping for permission to extend shop opening hours in order to boost trade. However, Austria is cautiously optimistic about the coming Christmas trade but no further discussions about longer opening hours are envisaged.
