Adoption of network technologies in oligopolies

Article Abstract:

Technology alliances affect firms' market profitability and competitivity. As another firm joins the alliance to which a chosen technology firm belongs, the change in profit for the chosen firm will be affected by the identity of the incoming firm and the increasing size of the alliance. However, the effect is not always positive as firms within the alliance exhibit different competitive stance. This is clearly illustrated in a two-stage game Nash equilibria using backward induction.
