Airbus firms up plans for a new jet

French aircraft manufacturer Airbus S.A.S. is planning the development of a new jetliner to complete with the 7E7 jet forthcoming from its American rival Boeing Co. The new Airbus A350 would be based on the company's current A330 model.

As part of an operations overhaul, Airbus S.A.S. will change the way it procures supplies, making the practices more efficient. Airbus currently spends $18 billion per year on supplies, from 1,000 suppliers.
