Alberta's war of health care words

Article Abstract:

The biggest marketing campaign thus far in Alberta is selling health care. The provincial government's proposed Bill 11 for health care reform aims to outsource certain health services to the private sector. An alliance of opponents to the bill believes that it will kill the concept of public health care. Both sides are using expensive television, radio and direct mail advertising to enlist public support of their respective positions, and this is generating very lucrative revenues for some provincial advertising agencies and media outlets.

Calgary, Alberta-based Axia NetMedia Corp hopes to prosper by developing niche-oriented, information-rich Internet-based knowledge centers called vertical portals or portals for corporate clients. Vortals are the rapidly growing second wave of internet gateways. Axia has also aligned itself with respected, high-quality content partners.
