Standard Chartered Pushes Hard Into Emerging Markets

In April 2000, London-listed Standard Chartered PLC finalized an agreement with Australia & New Zealand Banking Group to acquire Grindlays for $1.34 billion. The acquisition will strengthen Standard Chartered's position in both South Asia and the Middle East.
