An integrated inventory-transportation system with modified periodic policy for multiple products

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the management of one segment of a supply chain using an integrated approach that involves the simultaneous decisions for both inventory and transportation functions. The situation of a central warehouse and various geographically dispersed suppliers were taken into consideration in a model that deals with an inbound material-collection problem. Computational results indicate that a heuristic decomposition method can be utilized in solving large-scale problems.

Centralized ordering and allocation policies in a two-echelon system with non-identical warehouses

Article Abstract:

Centralized ordering and allocation policies were derived to solve a problem associated with a two-echelon system containing a single depot that supplies several warehouses. Policies derived were based on work made by Eppen and Schrage, which presents a closed form expression for the order-up-to level under the equal fractile allocation assumption. A base stock level expression for a system containing different warehouses was established.

Solution procedures for sizing of warehouses

Article Abstract:

Solution techniques were formulated to address a problem related to warehouse sizing. The techniques take into consideration three static model extensions such as costs varying over time and capital expenditure's economies of scale. The techniques showed the effectiveness of dynamic programming in solving the dynamic warehouse sizing problem's concave cost version.
