Apollo sweetens Countrywide PLC bid

American private equity company Apollo Management LP has raised its offer to $10.46 a share in its bid to acquire Countrywide PLC, the UK's largest real estate broker chain, in a deal now totaling $2.07 bil. A possible competing offer prompted Apollo's revision.
