Architecture with a humanitarian conscience

Article Abstract:

Architecture for humanity started in the year 1999 after the war in Kasova with the aim of providing transitional housing for Kasovan refugees. An international competition was held in this regard to design five year transitional housing and the competition attracted architects around the world to come forward and publicise the architectural competitions and design the same.

The importance of the Venice Biennale, considered the world's greatest architectural event, to architects is emphasized. The particular strength of this event lies in the opportunity it offers architects to celebrate and explore architecture away from the restrictions they normally encounter in the day-to-day pursuit of their profession.

Irish David beats Goliaths - again

The husband and wife team, Heneghan, Roisin and Peng, Shi-Fu of Heneghan Peng architects from Dublin had won the Dun Laoghaire Carlisle Pier competition to clinch a major prestige project. They discuss the project, their design approach and that helped them to win and some of their main influences.
