BBC to acquire 75% stake in publisher Lonely Planet

A 75% stake in Australian travel publisher Lonely Planet Publications will be bought by the British Broadcasting Corp. in an effort to expand the firm's content library. Although financial terms were not disclosed, industry observers believe the deal to be worth about $716 mil.

A tentative deal has been reached for The News Corporation Ltd. to purchase Dow Jones and Company Inc. for the original $5 bil bid made back in mid-April. However, the Bancroft family, which owns 64% of Dow Jones, has yet to approve the deal.
