An increase in bank lending of Japanese banks after four years of steady decline is reported. Demand from exporters for capital and an increase in loans to individuals have increased the bank lending in Japanese banks.

The Mitsubishi Tokyo Financial Group signed a deal to takeover UFJ Holdings after a stiff fight with rival Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group. The deal has resulted in creating the largest ever bank in Japan.
