BBV benefits from low risk approach

Article Abstract:

Investing in minimum risk ventures has paid dividends for Spanish-based Banco Bilbao Vizcaya (BBV), which has emerged almost unscathed from the financial recessions in both Russia and the Far East during 1998. BBV concentrated on the Latin American market during 1995-1998, producing up to $444 million profit in the region. Focusing on Spanish-speaking markets has enabled BBV to consolidate banking institutions and develop strategies to deal with the introduction of European Monetary Union in 1999.
