Chile: Kapsch receives toll contract

Austrian electronics firm Kapsch has been awarded the contract to provide equipment for the toll system along one road in Chile, and according to the director of Kapsch's tolls division, Josef Toplak, has a good chance of being awarded a further three contracts within Chile. The contracts in Chile are worth EUR 72,7mn. Kapsch is also to provide a toll system in Malaysia, including 400,000 receivers. The company claims to have a market share of 60-70% of the worldwide toll systems market. Kapsch is expected to be among the leading applicants to provide the toll system for lorries in Austria. The contract is due to be awarded between March and September 2002.
