Constrained games for evaluating organizational performance

Article Abstract:

A model using two-person ratio efficiency game theory is proposed for assessing the exceptional aspects of organizational performance. Unlike earlier games used for performance evaluations, the new model allows constraints on the strategies available to the players. The model combines game theory and data envelopment analysis (DEA) and includes enhancements such as the ability to handle zeros, a well-defined sensitivity analysis and the consolidation of DEA principles in constrained strategies.

Mind games

Article Abstract:

There has been a campaign for chess and bridge to be classified as sports in the United Kingdom. This would mean that they would be eligible for greater sums of money from the Sports Council. Chess is popular in the UK, and bridge is starting to undergo a revival, after having been seen as a game for older people. Chess has received TV coverage, and prizes are larger than for bridge players. There is a move to make both games more popular, and this campaign stresses their educational benefits.
