New books and exhibits celebrate the centennial of British renaissance man Morris, who works include furniture, textile and wallpaper design, poetry and handicrafts. A show at the Crafts Council asks whether he succeeded in his oxymoronic goal of providing fine hand crafts for the common man.

William Burroughs novels, such as 'Naked Lunch' remained controversial throughout his lifetime. Filled with anarchy, sex and drug addiction, they reflected his own life and attitudes. Guns were one of his obsessions, and in 1951 he accidently shot his wife while they played a drunken game.
