DENMARK/SWEDEN: QUARREL OVER SWEDISH FERRIES?
Article Abstract:
Danish/German shipping company Scandlines AG will enter a legal dispute with state-owned Swedish Rail (SJ) over SJ's sale of its ferry operations. The ferries are operated by a subsidiary, Scandlines AB, which now have been sold to Swedish shipping company Stena. However, Scandlines AG claims they had pre-emptive rights to Scandlines AB through a contract. SJ says those rights belonged to the Danish railway-company DSB, Scandlines AG's previous owner. Scandlines AG will now bring in lawyers to examine if SJ has broken the contract.
