Danish slaughter-houses are hit by the Russian economical crisis. One third of employees at Danish Crown's plant at Br nderslev have been laid off, and Vestjyske Slagterier has stopped exports temporarily. Flemming L nbaek, director of Vestjyske Slagterier, says the situation will be chaotic if Russian exports can't be taken up within 8-12 days. In 1997, Danish pork exports to Russia totalled 120,000 tonnes, and a further growth was anticipated this year.
