DENMARK: TELEPHONE NUMBERS TO BECOME PORTABLE
Article Abstract:
The Danish operators Tele Danmark, Sonofon, Telia, Tele2, Interroute and Mobilix have signed an agreement which makes telephone numbers portable between the operators. As for fixed telephony, the agreement is valid already by now, whereas portability of numbers for mobile phones, and between mobile and fixed phones, will be introduced on 1 January 2001, at the latest. Telestyrelsen, the Danish telecom authority, will now review the agreement.

DENMARK: SONOFON TO LAUNCH HIGH SPEED TECHNOLOGY
Article Abstract:
The Danish mobile phone operator Sonofon will launch a new technology, High Speed Data (HSD), on 18 October. Through this technology, wireless data can be transmitted as fast as via fixed telephony networks. The maximum speed is 57.6 kilobits per second, which is possible to reach through using four channels. From start, Sonofon's service will include three channels. From the beginning of next year, the maximum speed will be offered.
