The market is divided into spray products, which at 292 million pounds sterling accounted for 79.6% of the total market in 1996. Non-sprays such as sticks and roll-ons were valued at 75 million pounds sterling in 1996. Future developments will focus on spray format, with an increase in the number of premium fragrances. The spray market is predicted to reach 346 million pounds sterling by the year 2001.

Stick deodorant sales grew just 3% to 15 million pounds sterling. Sales of roll-ons reached 80 million pounds sterling, with market share declining slightly. Market share for aerosols grew in 1993, mostly because of the growing trend towards body sprays. Male-specific body spray sales increased 56% during 1991-1993. The market is examined.
