Island of calm in Docklands: the Island Health Medical Centre, on the Isle of Dogs in London's Docklands, has been designed by John Duane Architects as an elegant counterpoint to the muddle of its surroundings, and as an aid to creating a sense of well-being in patients

Article Abstract:

John Duane Architects designed the new Island Health Medical Centre on the Isle of Dogs in London's Docklands. The new building need ample space for training and work with groups of patients with plenty of well-lit open spaces. The public entrance links the centre to a new footpath and full height glazing around the central space links the offices and teaching spaces. The garden can be viewed from all sides of the building.

New focus for Docklands youth: Michael Squire Associates' landmark youth club in London's Docklands is an asset for the local community

Article Abstract:

The new London Docklands Development Corporation youth club, replaced the original Limehouse Youth Club and was designed by Michael Squire Associates. The building features sawn-timber cladding, galvanised windows, fairfaced concrete columns and mill finished aluminium to create a natural feel. Internally vibrant colours are displayed behind the brick colonnade.
