Durex condom signs global ad/sponsorship deal with MTV

Article Abstract:

Moves by London International Group (LIG) to transform the Durex condom brand into a worldwide brand have included a global advertising/sponsorship deal with satellite music video channel MTV. Advertising and on-air sponsorship work will be undertaken on five MTV stations, and the campaign is scheduled to reach more than 153 million homes with young adults. European advertising will begin straight away, with advertisements to run in other MTV regions from Apr 1996.

Philips breaks global corporate advertising campaign

Philips plans a new world-wide advertising campaign from Sep 1 1995. The company is seeking to boost employee morale and stress the quality of its products. There will be television commericals in 12 nations, and Europe will account for 45% of the budget, with Asia-Pacific accounting for 27%. There will also be a print campaign using 18 international titles. Companies involved in the campaign include Euro RSCG and D'Arcy Masius Benton and Bowles.

SMH pulls advertising from Vogue after anorexia row

Article Abstract:

Swiss watchmaker SMH's U.K. subsidiary has suspended all advertising for its Omega watch brand in the women's magazine Vogue because of the skeletal appearance of some of the female models featured in its pages. SMH (U.K.) says that the thinness of models may cause some young women to develop anorexia.
