Empty rooms, so what?
Article Abstract:
Asian hotels have been hit by a drop in numbers of tourists and business clients, but foreign companies operating hotels in Asia have been relatively unscathed. Western companies tend to manage hotels in Asia, rather than own them, and their risks are thus reduced, with the owners who have built the hotels carrying the burden. Asian hotels tend to be owned and run by the same company. Management companies were initially interested in buying hotels while prices were low, but problems related to bankruptcy laws have hindered this.
