FRANCE: THE MONDO IS LAUNCHED BY MITSUBISHI

Article Abstract:

Result of a collaboration between Mitsubishi and Microsoft, the Japanese electronics group has launched the Mondo, the latest technology in mobile communication. Weighing 200g, with a two hour autonomy, Mondo is a hybrid mobile telephone crossed with a PDA, featuring touch-screen buttons. Launched under the brand name, Trium, Mondo has personal assistant features, including Excel and Word, business Intranet access, MP3 facility, and dispatch and receipt of e-mail and video mails. The handset is also a mobile phone with the standards, GSM, WAP, and GPRS. The Trium Mondo should retail at around EUR 1,000 (FFr 6,500) not including mobile phone subscription.

France: Apple upgrades its computer range

Article Abstract:

Apple upgraded its range of iMac computers in France by adding more memory (256 MB) and increasing the hard disk capacity to up to 60 GB. The machines, which retail at between EUR 1,218 and EUR 2,132 according to versions (four configurations available), include Mac OS X, the new operating system and a suite of more than 25 software packages. Apple also introduced an entry version of its iBook computer, worth EUR 1,827 while the Power Book G4 now includes a 15.2" screen and titanium shell. According to IDC's latest survey, Apple has slipped to ninth position in the French market of computers behind Acer, with a 2.7% share.

FRANCE: D-LINK PRESENTS CHEAP INTERNET SOLUTION

Article Abstract:

D-Link France has presented DP-692, an Internet server which comes with a built-in Ethernet hub with 11 ports, e-mail server software, and call on demand. The all-in-one machine is a cheap solution for companies willing to install a network and share an Internet connection without paying too much in computing equipment.
