The Leeds Financial Services Initiative
Article Abstract:
One element of the Leeds Initiative, set up in 1990 to bring together public and private sector organisations to promote the city, is the Leeds Financial Services Initiative (LFSI), which dates from 1993. This now has 62 members, and now represents all the leading retail and professional financial service operations in the city. Members are invited to attend many different events, and aim to work together to make Leeds a key regional financial centre.

What a treat for Leeds advisers: since the 1950s when it was started as a family business, Treats has been acquired, bought out and most recently floated
Article Abstract:
Treats, an ice cream manufacturers, was acquired by Unilever in 1969 who decided to shut the plant down in 1990. A successful management buyout saved the factory and was completed in February 1991 with the backing of ECI Ventures. Some 12 million pounds sterling has been spent on plant and machinery and the purchase of premises since the buy out. The company was recently floated to raise capital for further investment and fully repay ECI.
