Fatra without cadmium

Article Abstract:

Fatra (Napajedla, Czech Republic), plastic processor, plans to install a bio-filter to reduce emissions from the operation of its Lomoflex machine. The project is another step within environmental protection, on which the company spent 126 mil Kc in 1988-1997. About 75% of the total sum went to water and earth protection. The investment enabled Fatra to reduce the consumption of lead-based materials from 357 t in 1988 to 7 t in 1997. The emission volume declined from 1,271 t in 1998 to 63 t in 1997. Since 1991 Fatra has not been using cadmium and chlorinated solvents. The firm operates two catalytic incinerators to dispose of thinners used at plastic printing.
