For Italian shipyard, Disney liner is not a Mickey-Mouse job

Article Abstract:

Demont Srl, the Italian shipyard involved in the building of Walt Disney Co.'s first cruise ship, has been experiencing difficulty in finishing the ship due partly to Walt Disney's perfectionism. Gianni Alassio, chief of engineering for Demont, noted Walt Disney inspectors have been very meticulous about unimportant staff. The delays caused by the problems at the shipyard forced Walt Disney to move the launch date of its first ship, called the Disney Magic, in July 1998 instead of an earlier date set by the company. Construction of another ship, called the Disney Wonder, is also underway.
