GEMS, JEWELLERY EXPORTS GLITTER THIS YEAR
Article Abstract:
India's exports of gems and jewellery increased to $4.7 billion during April 1998 - January 1999 compared to $4.1 billion during April 1997 - January 1998. Diamond exports are increasing at the rate of 10 percent per annum and the country has an 81 percent share in the world diamond market in volume terms and a 41 percent share in value terms. Jewellery exports touched $632 million in April 1997 - January 1998 and is expected to reach $692 million in April 1998 - January 1999. (khr)

Media laws in postcolonial Hong Kong may not be as strict as those in China, however, journalists in Hong Kong still need to be cautious in exercising their press freedom. A review of Doreen Weisenhaus' "Hong Kong Media Law: A Guide for Journalists and Media Professionals" proves that press freedom in Hong Kong does not mean as much as in otehr places such as the United States.
