INDIA: BIOMERIEUX INDIA'S GOALS

Article Abstract:

Merieux specialises in medical tests and makes an exports reagents, software, and machines. BioMerieux India has a network of eight engineers who are also salesmen. The company charges for its machines, but provides maintenance and reagents free of charge, contrary its American competitors. Pascal Vincelot, the managing director of Biomerieux India points out that people must often come long distances for their tests. With this equipment they can have their tests, get their results, and to go home the same evening. The company plans to ultimately handle the distribution of machines and complementary products. Biomerieux may have a line especially adapted to the India market manufactured in its Brazilian plant and ultimately made in India itself.

France: A review of Rail Europe Italia and its goals

Article Abstract:

Rail Europe Italia (REI) is a distribution subsidiary of the SNCF, located at Milan. It has become a major tourism agent in Italy. According to Mrs Bombara, the managing director of REI, it now provides seat reservations and issues tickets as well a non-rail products such as Paris Visite, Visitor Travel Cards, and Museum card for entry to many museums and places in Paris. One of REI's growth areas is in on-line ticket reservations. An Internet site is also going to be created in 2002. The company wants to develop its business clientele, so it is focusing on the speed and comfort of trains such as the TGV and Eurostar high speed trains.

The company's products are distributed via super and supermarkets, via wine cellars dedicated to fine wines, as well as through top restaurants and hotels, trendy bars and pubs, etc. The company is a subsidiary of the wine and spirit department of LVMH.
