ITALY: EU PRESSING ON MILAN AIRPORT
Article Abstract:
The European Union wants Italy's transport minister Tiziano Treu to postpone from November 1999 the transfer of international flights to Milan's new Malpensa airport until there are better road and rail connections to the new airport. The EU criticise also the runways as insufficient. The airport is now to be inspected by two EU and two Italian specialists.

AUSTRIA: RHI EXTENDS GIT BID
Article Abstract:
The Austrian refractories manufacturer RHI has extended the bid for the acquisition of the US refractories company GIT (Global Industrial Technologies) in order to allow the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) enough time to study RHI's divestment of refractories production plants. The deadline is now 17 December 1999.
