It -Suomen Energia l hti kilpaan pohjalaisesta Revon S hk st

Article Abstract:

Finnish It -Suomen Energia, consisting of five provincial electricity companies, has handed in the second highest bid for Finnish Revon S hk , FIM 715mn (USD 136mn). Revon S hk is already one of the backing companies of It -Suomen Energia and Finnish Kymppivoima. According to Martti Lappalainen, the chairman of the board of Kymppivoima and the MD of It -Suomen Energia and Suur-Savon S hk , the Kymppivoima cooperation was one of the most important reasons for the bid as Kymppivoima wants to hold on to Revon S hk . It -Suomen Energia may not necessarily have to join the tight price competition for Revon S hk as the towns know that selling the company to outsiders could lead to increases in electricity prices in the region. According to Lappalainen, Revon S hk 's holding in the Finnish Teollisuuden Voima, TVO, is especially valuable. The holding guarantees a 35MW share in the nuclear power by Finnish Olkiluoto plant for the next 20 years. If Revon S hk goes to competing bidders the TVO holding will be excluded from the deal with redemption clauses.
