The UK's major supermarket chains are rethinking their expansion strategies, as the market appears to be getting saturated. Instead of creating more superstores, they are concentrating on niche markets and expansion into Scotland and Wales. Most Britons live within 11 minutes of a supermarket.

An exceptionally successful Christmas season and favorable economic indicators has the retail industry very optimistic about their immediate future. There are reservations though about possible Clinton administration policies that could impede growth.
