Article Abstract:
Moravia Steel (Trinec, Czech Republic) - Trinecke zelezarny (Trinec, Czech Republic), metallurgy group, increased its exports to Portugal in 1998 compared to 1997. The group exported 100,000 t of goods worth about 2.6 bil PTE to the territory in 1998 compared to goods worth 119 mil Kc in 1997. The exports included mainly rails and high-carbon wire. The setting up of infrastructure financed from the funds of the European Union is being realised in Portugal. There is strong demand for steel in Portugal, due to the reconstruction of railways, of motorways, environmental projects and the treatment of water streams. Moravia Steel has set up the joint venture Moravia Steel Iberia (Lisboa, Potugal). The firm holds a 66% stake in the joint venture.
