Article Abstract:

There have already been complaints that the London traffic congestion charge has become a tax that can further raise the very high cost of building projects in central London. Facilities are being built that include retail areas tempting visitors to make purchases. The cost situation is creating challenges for architects and designers.

Martin Pawley: Congestion charging: Latest round in the fight between cars and cities

Article Abstract:

London, England, is involved in an anti-congestion effort. Cars were welcome in London in the 1920s, but there were not anywhere near the 24 mil registered autos that presently exist in the UK.
