Having recently lost its market ranking to Goodyear, which formed a partnership with Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd., Michelin is looking towards Japan and South Korea for new business opportunities. The likelihood that the company will grow in response to the Goodyear- Sumitomo arrangement has prompted an increase in shares.
