Nuclear winter: pollution in Russia
Article Abstract:
The world's most polluted area is northwestern Russia around the White Sea, where nuclear weapons testing, rocket launches and dumping of chemical weapons and radioactive waste have been going on for decades. Reindeer and seals in the area have high rates of cancer.

Hong Kong is completing a new $168-million chemical wastewater treatment plant which it hopes will begin the rehabilitation of its fouled harbor. However, the government cannot decide how to pay for the construction and operation of the plant.
