Ogilvy remembered as ad legend

Ogilvy and Mather (O&M) co-founder David Ogilvy died on July 21, 1999 at the age of 88 in Touffou, France. Ogilvy was born in West Horsley, UK, and later moved to the US where he became associated with George Gallop's Audience Research Institution. The firm which he cofounded was Hewitt, Ogilvy, Benson & Mather. It won major accounts such as General Foods and American Express and are still the agency's clients. O&M is the world's eighth largest agency with 1998 billings of $9.8 billion.
