Telefonica sees KPN as portal to European markets, growth

Telefonica S.A. of Spain is speculating the acquisition of KPN N.V. of the Netherlands. The acquisition would be valued at 20 billion Euros or $24 billion. KPN N.V. shares increased by 6.5 percent to 7.98 Euros in the Netherlands at the news.

Iberia IPO is scheduled for November

Article Abstract:

Iberia is set to launch an initial public offering (IPO) valued at 313 billion pesetas (1.88 billion euros). The IPO is scheduled for November 22, 1999. The announcement followed weeks of rumoured conflicts between Iberia's main stockholders that could have postponed the IPO until after Spring 2000 general elections. However, a settlement has been reached in the argument between British Airways and Caja Madrid institutional stockholders.
