RAAF to deploy first GPS time-synchronized video system

Article Abstract:

TEAC America Inc has received a $5.5 million contract from the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) to supply V83ABF airborne video tape recorders and deployable ground debriefing systems needed for its F/A18 Cockpit Video Recording System program. The triple-deck recorders combined with Lockheed Martin Fairchild Systems' cockpit video cameras will allow RAAF to deploy the first video system having a time code synchronized to the Global Positioning System universal time reference.

USN proceeds with next-generation carriers

Article Abstract:

Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co has received a $161 million contract from the US Naval Sea Systems Command for the research and design development of the CVNX aircraft carrier. The carrier design should meet four main performance measures, including interoperability and electrical plant capacity. The US Navy, which plans to buy 10 CVNX carriers, expects the first CVNX carrier to enter the service in 2013-14.

Australian ground sensors go head-to-head

Article Abstract:

The Australian Dept of Defence's Project Ninox (Land 53) has issued request for tender covering the procurement of unattended ground sensors (UGS). The Australian Defence Force is planning to deploy the UGS systems with regional surveillance and reconnaissance battalions in the northern region to provide continuous monitoring of potential insertion points. The preferred supplier will be named in Mar 2000 with the contract being signed in Aug 2000.
