James Champy, chairman and CEO of CSC Index, an international consultancy, believes that re-engineering is the best way for businesses to creat a high performance organisation based on redesigned, customer-oriented processes. He feels that organisations do not always achieve this goal when senior management cannot agree on the focus of re-engineering and whether it should be done.

Costain's first decided to seek half of their business overseas following the war. During the seventies, overseas contracts were high. For the eighties, they have decided to increase proportion of assets in property, to grow with inflation. Their policy is to appoint nationals to head up overseas subsidiaries.
