Article Abstract:
On his recent visit to Washington, Israeli defense minister Moshe Arens was greeted with accusations of illegal arms trades and the almost certain denial of US loans. The US would like to see the Labor Party win the next Israeli elections because it believes Labor would be more willing to concede land.

The US will withdraw loan guarantees from Israel if settlement in the West Bank and Gaza strip continues. Prime minister Yitzhak Shamir plans to go forward with the settlement and will try to manage without US aid.
