Singapore's design hopes
Article Abstract:
Creative Technology Ltd. is expected to reap the benefits out of the Singapore multimedia firm's $22.5-million acquisition of US semiconductor designer Silicon Engineering Inc. in the longer term. The purchase is also not being anticipated to affect Creative's shares, which are listed in both Singapore and the US's Nasdaq Stock Market. Analyst Stephen Chan from Kay Hian Pte. Ltd. said that the impact of the purchase in Creative's share prices would be insignificant in the near term, although it will boost the Singaporean firm's design capabilities, particularly in the area of multimedia, in the medium term.

Public or private, ASL shareholders are likely to benefit; as Computer Sciences plans takeover of ASL's parent, investors mull chances for stock delisting
Article Abstract:
Computer Sciences has announced its intention to take over CSA Holding, the parent company of Automated Systems Ltd, a Hong Kong consultant and integrator of computer systems. If Computer Sciences chooses to delist CSA Holdings, it is most likely that it will also delist Automated Systems whose profit grew by 16% in 1998 and whose shares are reasonably priced. Investors stand to benefit if ASL remains public or if Computer Sciences pushes through with delisting.
