The political turmoil in Haiti is worse than ever and the military is still firmly in control of the government. The military took power after it ousted elected president Jean-Bertrand Aristide. The military and the US government favor Marc Bazin as the next prime minister.

Desperate voyagers
Article Abstract:
Haiti desperately needs Pres Aristide back home to stop thousands of boat people from suicide trips to Florida. The UN, the OAS and aid donor countries need to apply pressure to force a compromise which would return Aristide and provide amnesty for the opposition.
