Tajmac-ZPS at the threshold of the future
Article Abstract:
Tajmac-ZPS (TZPS) (Zlin, Czech Republic), machine tool manufacturer, wants to focus mainly on consumer production after 2000. In 2000 the firm will purchase the latest version of the designing software Pro/Engineer worth USD 0.5 mil. TZPS wants to focus mainly on CNC machines, on which it has been awarded a five-year contract by the US division of Okuma (Japan). According to the contract, TZPS should produce 55 machines per month. The second field of TZPS's interest is the production of multi-spindle machining centres. The firm wants to produce nearly 200 machining centres per year after 2000, 50% more compared to 2000. TZPS is the former firm ZPS (Zlin, Czech Republic), which became bankrupt and was bought by Tajmac (Italy) in the middle of 2000.

Exploring joint research initiatives: opportunities for collaboration between the US and the UK
Article Abstract:
Scientists from the US, UK and several other countries met in 1997 to discuss opportunities for research collaboration. The meeting was sponsored by the American and British Geriatric Societies. Some areas for potential collaboration include research on incontinence, hip fracture, and dementia. Additional meetings may be held to standardize research techniques, identify research priorities, develop an infrastructure for carrying out megatrials and creating transatlantic fellowships and scholarships.

Journey's end
Article Abstract:
Since the 1970s, there has been a massive increase in interest in the first world war and a flourishing industry has developed around it. However, this interest, and the strict observance of Remembrance Sunday, could wane as the last few remaining first world war veterans die.
