Mere adjustments: Denmark and the EC

Article Abstract:

The European Community is trying to modify the Maastricht treaty in ways that will satisfy Denmark, which voted against the treaty in an earlier referendum. The Danes are very protective of their sovereignty and do not want to be part of the economic and monetary union.

Article Abstract:

John Major's effort to win parliamentary ratification of the Maastricht treaty on European union suffered a setback on Mar 8, 1993, when a procedural amendment to the ratification bill was passed. Major should consider a referendum on the issue.
