Internet stocks have become fashionable in Europe, with techMARK in Britain, and Germany's Neuer Markt seeing stock price rises. Investors are not deterred by losses, and appear to believe that large losses are a sign of potential. There has also been a rapid increase in internet users in Europe, though, unlike the US, there are regulatory, linguistic and cultural barriers in Europe. Strong demand for internet stocks has led to high valuations. There is concern that a speculative bubble has developed.
