Turkey plans to cut farm subsidies, advancing reform

Article Abstract:

The article focuses on Turkey's agreement to cut agricultural subsidies in an attempt to move ahead with economic reform. The move is in keeping with Turkey's $4.5 billion (Euro4.7 billion) standby accord with the International Monetary Fund designed to slash yearly inflation to roughly 25% by the end of 2000 and to single digits next year from 65% in 1999.
