Vivendi profit surges on gain, Pay-TV division

Vivendi S.A. of France posted soaring third quarter net profit by 100 percent to 1.56 billion Euros ($2 billion) from 646 million Euros last year. Revenues were improved by increased market share at its pay-tv subsidiary and the divestment of a stake in Veolia Environnment S.A. also of France.

Vivendi's profit rises 32% on gain in TV stake sale

First-quarter net profit for Vivendi S.A. increased by 32% to reach $1.26 bil, while revenue rose 5.3%. Results were assisted by the sale of a stake in Canal Plus France totaling just over 10% to Lagardere SCA.
