The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) benefitted most from helping the American Stock Exchange (Amex) after the 11 Sep, 2001, terrorist attacks. The NYSE housed some Amex operations, but limited the activities of Amex traders. Amex's exchange-traded fund suffered, while that of the NYSE boomed.
