Chestnut Hill Hospital to be sold
Article Abstract:
The board of Chestnut Hill Health Care in 2004 approved a $ 25-million deal to sell its hospital and affiliated health-care holdings to a joint venture of the for-profit Vanguard Health Systems Inc. of Tennessee, and the nonprofit University of Pennsylvania Health System. The joint venture, which would be for-profit and taxable, would also invest $50 million for capital projects and program development in the small health network by 2009.

Lawsuit against hospitals spiking
Article Abstract:
Three hundred and fifty hospitals in Mississippi are sued in state and federal courts for allegedly overcharging uninsured patients and using aggressive tactics to collect the bills. Mississippi plaintiff lawyer Richard Scruggs has filed more than 40 federal suits in 21states against nonprofit hospital networks, including the Radnor-based Jefferson Health System.
