Commercial insurer Ace Ltd. of Bermuda with US operations based in Philadelphia reported a loss of $3 million due to the hurricane hits. New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer is investigating the insurance industry as the experts revealed that Ace's growth would slow as premiums are squeezed in the wake of the probe and soliciting new customers becomes riskier as a result.

Drug giants' signs of frailty

The major pharmaceutical companies of Philadelphia are under scrutiny for charging high prices and are accused of concealing study data that raises doubts about them.
