L ocal independent food distributors have decreased in number as the number of national companies entering the market continue to rise . Bengal Chef, Imperial foods, DiVincenti Brothers, Crifasi Brothers, Food Systems, Capital Supply, Pelican Provision, Sullivan Wholesale and Fruit Exchange have all gone out of business. According to Kyle Beck owner of Ready Portion Meat Company the only way local companies will survive is to have a niche.

Big cats, big games
Article Abstract:
The Lousiana State University Tigers played against Univeristy of Florida Gators in Baton Rouge, on what was named as the biggest weekend for football. Alabama A&M Bulldogs also played against Southern Jaguars on the same weekend, which improved the business revenues in the area. Impacts of the football competitions on Baton Rouge's economic conditions are examined.
